Loremi Tours

War leaves wounds that silence cannot heal. But memory, when shared, can.

On 23rd November, Loremi Tours had the honor of organizing the inaugural Nipoo Memorial Exhibition at Pece War Memorial Stadium. The event united survivors of the NRA-LRA war, community members, storytellers, artists, and partners committed to preserving our shared history.

Meaning “to remember,” Nipoo provided a dedicated space for collective reflection on the experiences of the conflict. It served to reaffirm a shared commitment to healing, resilience, and the preservation of memory.

The centerpiece of the day was a Memory Exhibition Wall, created with support from the Foundation for Justice and Development Initiatives (FJDI). Displaying personal stories and photographs, the wall conveyed the human cost of war and the strength of those who endured it. The visual narrative was complemented by artistic performances and poetry. This was further strengthened by direct testimonies from survivors, whose courage fostered a powerful atmosphere of empathy and truth.

The evening concluded with a collective candle-lighting ceremony. Illuminating the stadium, each flame symbolized remembrance, hope, and unity, ending the event in a spirit of shared reflection.

This inaugural edition was made possible by our dedicated partners. We extend our sincere gratitude to: Caritas Suisse, the Foundation for Justice and Development Initiatives (FJDI), Watwero Dance Group, Acholi Cultural Heritage, Acta Events, and the Northern Uganda Film Association.

As an annual event, Nipoo will continue to offer a platform for remembrance and collective healing. It stands as a reminder that remembering is a shared duty, one that allows us to honor the past while guiding our path toward a more understanding future.
