WAJOLI!

The Acholi a Nilotic ethnic group of Luo people who live predominantly in the central region of Northern Uganda, an area collectively referred to as Acholiland. Endowed with near permanent sunshine, Acholi land the heart of culture in Uganda is perfectly situated between Murchison Falls National Park and Kidepo Valley National Park in a plateau consisting of a lightly wooded rolling savannah landscape with scattered trees and grassland broken up by beautiful streams and rivers that crisscross the endless horizon. Stunning rocks and mountain outcrops rise sharply above the surrounding plains.

Even after a 2-decade war, the Acholi people still maintain their sophisticated culture full of swirlingly colorful energetic dances as dance represents a fundamental part of the cultural heritage. Some of the famous dances are Larakaraka dance, a courtship dance performed during wedding ceremonies, Otole Dance that was sang during raids to give morale to the fighters and the Bwola Dance also known as the Royal Dance among many others.
